Removal

4GR-FSE EMISSION CONTROL: AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Sensor 1):

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner deployment.

2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL Removal

3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal

4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM COVER SIDE RH Removal

5. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Removal

7. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 2WD) Removal

8. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 4WD) Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE BATTERY Removal

11. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal

12. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and battery tray.
13. REMOVE NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
14. REMOVE NO. 4 ENGINE WIRE
15. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and engine room relay block assembly.
16. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH






(a) Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(b) Remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold subassembly LH and gasket.
17. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)
(a) Disconnect the sensor connector.






(b) Using SST, remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold RH.

18. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (BANK 2 SENSOR 1)






(a) Using SST, remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold LH.
