Introduction

Some 2006 - 2009 model year IS 250/350 and/or 2008 - 2009 model year IS F vehicles may exhibit a condition where the inner rear view mirror vibrates while driving. This condition is most noticeable with the moon roof open. A new mirror assembly is available to improve this condition.

NOTE

For those customers who use the HomeLink(R) feature to operate their garage door opener, once this repair is performed the HomeLink(R) function will need to be re-established following the programming instructions provided in the Owner's Manual. Therefore, you should ensure that customers bring their garage door opener remote with them when coming to the dealer for repair.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure





1. Cut the female connector bridge area of the NEW inner mirror wire harness (P/N 87844-53020) as shown in Figure 1.





2. Remove the inner rear view mirror. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:





3. Remove the overhead console. Refer to (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:





4. Remove the inner mirror wire harness tape (blue) that secures the harness to the headliner and pull the connector through the headliner.





5. Install the NEW inner rear view mirror.

Torque: 1.8 N*m (18 kgf*cm, 16 in*lbf)





6. Connect the mirror wire harness to the NEW inner mirror wire harness and wrap the connection with thin EPT foam.

7. Route the inner mirror wire harness through the headliner and connect it to the new rear view mirror.





A. Position the inner mirror wire harness to the left of the foam block as shown in Figure 4.





8. Install the NEW rear view mirror cover (P/N 87818-33010) by engaging the 2 claws as shown in Figure 5.

9. Reinstall the overhead console in reverse order of removal procedure.

10. Confirm repair.

NOTICE
Notify customer that it will be necessary to reprogram the garage door opener, etc., if HomeLink(R) feature is in use.
