Moon Roof Auto Close Function is Inoperative

Applicability

The information contained in this TSIB supersedes TSIB No. EL014-07.

^ Applicability has been updated to include 2008 model year IS F and 2006 - 2008 model year IS 250, IS 350 vehicles.

^ Introduction and Initialization Procedure have been updated.

The TSIB No. EL014-07 is Obsolete and any printed versions should be discarded. Be sure to review the entire content of this service bulletin before proceeding.

Introduction

Some IS models may exhibit a condition where the moon roof will not AUTO close (from the tilt or slide position). If either one of these conditions is present perform the re-initialization procedure in this bulletin.

NOTE
In the event that a new motor/ecu has been installed, please refer to the repair manual for the correct initialization procedure.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Initialization Procedure








NOTE

^ Make sure there is no foreign matter on the guide rail. Make sure the guide rails are not deformed.





^ Do NOT switch any electrically powered Systems ON and OFF during initialization.

^ If battery voltage fluctuates by 0.5V or more, initialization will fail.

^ Permanent ECU damage will occur if power is disconnected while the moon roof motor is operating.

^ Do NOT move the vehicle during initialization.

^ Do NOT apply strong force to the vehicle during initialization, such as closing the doors.

Moon Roof in jam protection or abnormal operation for SLIDE open/close position

1. Switch ON the ignition (IG) by pressing the "START/STOP" button twice.

2. Rotate the moon roof switch position to 2. The moon roof should be in the full open position.

3. Rotate the moon roof switch position to 9. The moon roof will move to slide close and re-open and stop at the partially slide open position.

4. Push and hold the sliding roof switch (this is position 11). Continue holding the switch until the following movement is complete: the moon roof will slide close, re-slide open, after about 10 seconds the moon roof will again slide close and stop at the fully closed position.

5. Confirm that the auto operation features work for slide open, slide close, tilt up, and tilt down.

Moon Roof is in jam protection or abnormal operation for TILT position

1. Switch ON the ignition (IG) by pressing the "START/STOP" button twice.

2. Rotate the moon roof switch position to 10. The moon roof should be in the full tilt up position.

3. Rotate the moon roof switch position to 9. The moon roof will move to tilt down and re-tilt up and stop at the full tilt up.

4. Push and hold the moon roof switch (this is position 11). Continue holding the switch until the following movement is complete: the moon roof will tilt down re-tilt up, after about 10 seconds the moon roof will again tilt down and stop at the full close position.

5. Confirm that the auto operation features work for slide open slide close tilt up and tilt down.

NOTE
If the moon roof reverses in step 5, start again from the beginning.
