Transmission Control Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When moving the shift lever into the S position using the transmission control switch, it is possible to switch the shift range between "1" (1st range) and "8" (8th range).
Shifting to "+" once raises the shift range by one, and shifting to "-" lowers the shift range by one.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.

(b) Turn the engine switch off.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

Standard voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH

(a) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance between each terminal of the transmission control switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM)

(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:

(d) Turn the engine switch off.
(e) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
