Installation









AA80E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

1. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Inspect the torque converter clutch AA80E Automatic Transmission.
2. INSTALL TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY






(a) Using a vernier caliper and a straightedge, measure dimension A between the transmission and the end surface of the drive plate.






(b) Aligning the matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch, engage the splines of the input shaft and turbine runner.






(c) Engage the splines of the stator shaft and stator while turning the torque converter clutch.
HINT:
Turn the torque converter clutch approximately 180°.





(d) Turn the torque converter clutch and align the matchmarks on the torque converter clutch and transmission case to engage the key of the oil pump drive gear into the slot on the torque converter clutch.
NOTICE:
Do not push on the torque converter when aligning the matchmarks.





(e) Using a vernier caliper and a straightedge, measure dimension B shown in the illustration and check that B is greater than A measured in the first step.
Standard:
A + 1 mm (0.04 in.) or more
3. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH






(a) Install the transmission control shaft lever with the nut.
Torque: 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)
4. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE REAR MOUNTING INSULATOR






(a) Install the engine rear mounting insulator with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf)
5. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY






(a) Install the automatic transmission to the engine with the 10 bolts.
Bolt A - Torque: 71 Nm (724 kgf-cm, 52 ft-lbf)
Bolt B - Torque: 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:

- Insert dowel pins into the dowel holes securely so that the end face of the automatic transmission assembly fits close against the engine assembly before tightening the bolts.
- Make sure that the dowel pins are not loose, bent, damaged or scratched and then install the transaxle onto the engine with the contact surfaces of the engine and transaxle flat against each other.


6. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR






(a) Install the nut and wire harness clamp.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)






(b) Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.






(c) Install the 2 bolts and wire harness clamp.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)






(d) Connect the transmission wire connector.
HINT:
Push up the lever until the claw of the transmission wire connector makes a connection sound.

7. INSTALL ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER






(a) Install the engine rear mounting member to the automatic transmission assembly with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)






(b) Install the engine rear mounting member to the body with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf)
(c) Tilt up the automatic transmission assembly.
8. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT






(a) Install the 6 torque converter clutch mounting bolts.
Torque: 48 Nm (489 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf)
HINT:
First install the black colored bolt and then the remaining 5 bolts.

9. INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER






(a) Install the flywheel housing side cover.
10. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS






(a) Install the bolt and ground wire to the automatic transmission assembly.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)
11. CONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Install the oil cooler tube bracket with the bolt.
Torque: 14 Nm (140 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)






(b) Install the oil cooler tube bracket with the bolt.
Torque: 14 Nm (140 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf)
(c) Install the 2 oil cooler tubes with the 2 clamps.
12. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Temporarily connect the shifting rod to the connecting rod swivel with the nut.
HINT:
The nut will be tightened to the specified torque during the shift lever position adjustment procedure.

13. INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY Installation

14. INSTALL NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

15. INSTALL REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY Installation

16. FULLY TIGHTEN NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY Installation

17. INSPECT AND ADJUST NO. 2 AND NO. 3 JOINT ANGLE Installation

18. INSTALL AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH Installation

19. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR Installation

20. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1) Installation

21. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

22. INSTALL NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

23. CONNECT COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY Installation

24. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1) Installation

25. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

26. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

27. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE Installation

28. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY Installation

29. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

30. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

31. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) Installation

32. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) Installation

33. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH

34. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH

(a) Install the front active stabilizer control actuator assembly Installation.
38. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR (w/o Active Stabilizer System)
(a) Install the front stabilizer bar Installation.
39. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT Installation

40. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

52. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION AA80E Automatic Transmission

53. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION On-Vehicle Inspection

54. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
(a) Add the automatic transmission fluid AA80E Automatic Transmission.
55. INSPECT EXHAUST GAS LEAK
56. CHECK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PRECAUTION
(a) After replacing the automatic transmission assembly, certain procedures are necessary Initialization.
