Power Seat Position Is Not Memorized
SEAT: FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ Seat Position Memory System): Power Seat Position is not Memorized
Power Seat Position is not Memorized
DESCRIPTION
The driver side seat memory switch sends signals to the position control ECU LH to memorize given seat position via the multiplex network master switch assembly. The passenger side seat memory switch signals the position control ECU RH to memorize a given seat position via the front multiplex network door ECU RH. This memory system does not use a seat position sensor. The seat position is detected by counting pulses that are output when the motor turns. If there is no pulse output from the motor, the motor will stop operating. The seat memory switch sends signals to the position control ECU to return to one of the memorized positions.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL FUNCTION
(a) Check that each function of the power seat operates normally by using the front power seat switches.
OK:
Each function of power seat operates normally by using seat switches.
NG -- GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK SEAT MEMORY SWITCH FUNCTION (SEAT POSITION MEMORY FUNCTION)
(a) Perform a memory operation properly. Check that the buzzer sounds to indicate the completion of the memory operation.
NOTICE:
- The seat position will not be recorded if the SET switch and 2 or more of the memory switches (for example, M1 and M2) are pressed simultaneously.
- If a memorizing operation has failed, release all switches. The seat memory function does not operate unless the switches are released.
OK:
Seat memory switch function operates normally.
Result:
C -- NORMAL
B -- CHECK COMBINATION METER FUNCTION (PNP SWITCH)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK COMBINATION METER FUNCTION (PNP SWITCH)
(a) When the engine switch is on (IG) and the shift lever is on P, check that the combination meter shows that the shift lever is on P.
OK:
Meter shows that shift lever is on P.
NG -- GO TO COMBINATION METER
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH)
(a) Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the seat memory switch.
Multiplex network master switch assembly:
OK:
On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.
NG -- INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH (DRIVER SIDE)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH)
(a) Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the seat memory switch, the front power seat switch, engine switch and PNP switch.
Position control ECU & switch assembly LH (Driver side):
OK:
On tester screen, each item is displayed according to above chart.
NG -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSEMBLY LH
6. INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH (DRIVER SIDE)
(a) Remove the switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MULTIPLEX NETWORK MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH)
(a) Disconnect the Q13 and Q10 switch connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the Q10 switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance:
OK -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
NG -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH - SEAT MEMORY SWITCH LH)
(a) Disconnect the M9 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the Q10 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
11. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT MEMORY SWITCH RH)
(a) Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the seat memory switch, the front power seat switch, engine switch and PNP switch.
Position control ECU & switch assembly RH (passenger side):
OK:
On tester screen, each item is displayed according to above chart.
OK -- REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSEMBLY RH
NG -- Continue to next step.
12. INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH RH (PASSENGER SIDE)
(a) Remove the switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE SEAT MEMORY SWITCH RH
OK -- Continue to next step.
13. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU RH - SEAT MEMORY SWITCH RH)
(a) Disconnect the M4 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the Q2 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU RH
