DTC C15C7/78 - DC Motor Power Source Voltage Malfunction

DTC C15C8/79 - Power Supply Relay Failure

DESCRIPTION

The steering control ECU monitors PIG (motor power source voltage) and detects a malfunction in the power supply relay (located inside the steering control ECU).
If the steering control ECU detects a malfunction, it will turn on the master warning light, store these DTCs, and stop VGRS operation.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
The fault may be intermittent. Check harnesses and connectors thoroughly and retest.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (PGD2 - Body ground)





(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
(c) Disconnect the connector from the steering control ECU.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK STEERING CONTROL ECU
(a) Connect the connector to the steering control ECU.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.





(c) Record and clear the DTCs Variable Gear Ratio Steering System.
(d) Start the engine.
(e) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Voltage:






C -- CHECK OR REPAIR CHARGING SYSTEM
B -- CHECK OR REPAIR HARNESS AND FUSE
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Variable Gear Ratio Steering System.
OK:
Neither DTC C15C7/78 nor C15C8/79 is output.
NG -- REPLACE STEERING CONTROL ECU
OK -- END
