Front Stabilizer Bar

FRONT STABILIZER BAR

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 10 bolts and ornament.
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
(a) Remove the 5 nuts and wheel.
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER





4. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the stabilizer bar from the stabilizer link.
(b) Remove the nut and stabilizer link from the lower arm.





5. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR
(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 stabilizer bar brackets and stabilizer bar.
(b) Remove the 2 bushes from the stabilizer bar.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) As shown in the illustration, move the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times before installing the nut.
(b) Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 2 to 4 seconds per turn and take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Standard turning torque: 0.05 to 1.5 N*m (0.5 to 15 kgf*cm, 0.4 to 13 in.*lbf)
(c) Check for any cracks or grease leaks on the ball joint dust cover.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR
(a) Install the 2 bushes to the stabilizer bar.
(b) Install the stabilizer bar and 2 stabilizer bar brackets with the 4 bolts.
2. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
3. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the stabilizer link to the lower arm with the nut.
Torque: 113 N*m (1,150 kgf*cm, 83 ft.*lbf)
(b) Install the stabilizer link with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 51 N*m (520 kgf*cm, 38 ft.*lbf)
4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
(a) Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
5. INSTALL WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the ornament with the 10 bolts.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
