Front Upper Suspension Arm
FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARMCOMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 10 bolts and ornament.
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
(a) Remove the 5 nuts and wheel.
3. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the speed sensor wire.
4. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE LH
5. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
6. REMOVE FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and upper arm.
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) As shown in the illustration, move the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times before installing the nut.
(b) Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 2 to 4 seconds per turn and take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Standard turning torque: 1.0 to 3.4 N*m (10 to 35 kgf*cm, 9 to 30 in.*lbf)
(c) Check for any cracks or grease leaks on the ball joint dust cover.
INSTALLATION
HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Temporarily install the upper arm with the 2 bolts.
HINT: After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the bolts.
2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
3. CONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE LH
4. CONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
(a) Install the speed sensor wire with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
5. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
(a) Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
6. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
7. TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
8. TIGHTEN FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 53 N*m (540 kgf*cm, 39 ft.*lbf)
9. INSTALL WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the ornament with the 10 bolts.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
10. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
(a) Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment.
