Steering Column Control Module: Service and Repair

MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LOWER





4. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER
(a) Turn the steering wheel to the left and right as necessary to remove the 2 screws.
(b) Remove the screw.
(c) Detach the 3 claws remove the steering column cover lower.
5. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
(a) Remove 3 clips and duct.





6. REMOVE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors.
(b) Remove the 2 screws and multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
(a) Install the ECU with the 2 screws.
(b) Connect the 2 connectors.
2. INSTALL NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
(a) Install the duct with the 3 clips.





3. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER
(a) Attach the 3 claws to the install the steering column cover lower.
(b) Turn the steering wheel to the left and right as necessary to install the 2 screws.
(c) Install the screw.
4. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER
5. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
