Front Passenger Airbag Assembly:

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (Refer to Restraint Systems Service Precautions).

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY

a. Remove the instrument panel safety pad.

3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
4. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE
7. REMOVE NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN
8. REMOVE NO.1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH
9. REMOVE NO.1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
10. REMOVE NO.2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
11. REMOVE FRONT DEFROSTER NOZZLE
12. REMOVE NO.1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
13. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
14. REMOVE NO.2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
16. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the 2 bolts.
b. Remove the strap from the bracket.
c. Remove the 2 screws.




d. Release the rear side wall of the airbag door from the hook by pulling it slightly.Then roll the airbag forward.
e. Release the front side wall of the airbag door from the other hook and remove the airbag.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (Refer to Restraint Systems Service Precautions).

1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

a. Install the front passenger airbag with the 2 screws.
b. Install the strap to the bracket.
c. Install the 2 bolts.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
3. REMOVE NO.2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
4. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
5. REMOVE NO.1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
6. REMOVE FRONT DEFROSTER NOZZLE
7. REMOVE NO.2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
8. REMOVE NO.1 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
9. REMOVE NO.1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH
10. REMOVE NO.1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN
11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE
12. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
13. REMOVE NO. 4 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
14. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY

a. Install the instrument panel safety pad.

16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
17. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

18. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT

a. Check the SRS warning light.
