Throttle Body: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
a. Remove the 2 nuts.
b. Remove the 2 clips and cover.
4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET.
a. Remove the bolt and air cleaner inlet.
5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
a. Disconnect the air hose and No. 1 ventilation hose.
b. Loosen the 2 hose clamps and bolt, and remove the intake air connector.
6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Disconnect the ventilation hose.
c. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.
d. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts, throttle body and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY
a. Install a new gasket and the throttle body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 18 N.m(184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
b. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses.
c. Connect the ventilation hose.
d. Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
a. Install the connector pipe with the bolt and 2 hose clamps.
Torque:
4.0 N.m (41 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) for hose clamps
5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for bolt
b. Connect the air hose and No. 1 ventilation hose.
3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET.
a. Install the air cleaner inlet with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N.m(51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
4. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
a. Install the cover with the 2 clips.
b. Install the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m(51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
7. ADD ENGINE COOLANT.
8. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS.
