Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 8.
4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 8.
5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE 8.

6. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY




a. Using SST, disconnect the fuel pipe.

SST 09023-38401

b. Remove the bolt from the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.




c. Using a wrench, remove the 2 fuel pulsation dampers, 4 gaskets and No. 2 fuel pipe.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY




a. Install 4 new gaskets and 2 pulsation dampers together with the No. 2 fuel pipe to the delivery pipe.




b. Using SST, tighten the 2 pulsation dampers.

Torque:
33 N.m(337 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf) for use with SST
39 N.m (398 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf) for use without SST

HINT:
- Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 in.)
- Make sure SST and a wrench are connected in a straight line.

c. Install the bolt to the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.

Torque: 5.0 N.m(51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)




d. Using SST, install the fuel pipe.

SST 09023-38401

Torque:
28 N.(286 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf) for use with SST
35 N.m (357 kgf.cm, 26 ft.lbf) for use without SST

HINT:
- Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 in.)
- Make sure SST and a wrench are connected in a straight line.

2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

6. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS
7. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
