Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD




a. Disconnect the sensor connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and pedal rod.

NOTE:
- Do not drop or strike the accelerator pedal.
- Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD




a. Install the pedal rod with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 5.0 N.m(51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

b. Connect the sensor connector.

2. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

3. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
