Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. DISCONNECT REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the rear drive shaft assembly.

3. REMOVE CANISTER ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the connector.




b. Disconnect the 3 hoses.
1. Disconnect the purge line hose.
2. Disconnect the air inlet line hose (leak detection pump).
3. Disconnect the vent line hose from the canister.




c. Remove the 4 nuts and canister.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CANISTER ASSEMBLY




a. Install the canister with the 4 nuts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)




b. Connect the 3 hoses.

1. Connect the air inlet line hose to the canister (leak detection pump).
2. Connect the vent line hose.
3. Connect the purge line hose.





c. Connect the connector.


2. CONNECT REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH.
a. Install the rear drive shaft assembly.

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
