Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair

High Mounted Stop Light Assembly:




HIGH MOUNTED STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL






HINT: When replacing the stop light, heat the body and stop light using a heat light.

NOTE: Do not heat the body and stop light excessively.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP
3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER




4. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the tape and 2 nuts.




c. Apply protective tape to the vehicle body around the center stop light.
d. Using a heat light, heat the center stop light.
e. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.
f. Cut through the double-sided tape by pulling the piano wire as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
- If reusing the center stop light, take care not to damage the center stop light.
- Do not damage the body.

g. Remove the center stop light.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY

a. Clean the vehicle body surface.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
3. Wipe off stains with cleaner.
4. Remove the double-sided tape from the center stop light.
5. Wipe off stains with cleaner.




b. Install the center stop light.
1. Apply new double-sided tape to the center stop light as shown in the illustration.
2. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and center stop light.




3. Install the center stop light with the 2 nuts.

2. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER
3. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
