Removal and Replacement
BRAKE PEDALCOMPONENTS (Part 1):
COMPONENTS (Part 2):
REMOVAL
1. FOLLOW PRECAUTION
(a) Follow the Restraint System Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
3. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
5. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
7. DISCONNECT MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
(a) Remove the return spring.
(b) Remove the clip and push rod pin.
(c) Disconnect the push rod clevis from the brake pedal.
8. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the shaft and nut.
(b) Remove the pedal, 2 bushes and collar.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the collar, 2 new bushes and shaft.
(b) Install the pedal, 2 bushes and collar.
(c) Install the shaft and nut.
Torque: 37 N*m (375 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
2. CONNECT MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
(a) Connect the push rod clevis to the brake pedal.
(b) Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the push rod pin.
(c) Install the push rod pin and clip.
(d) Install the return spring.
3. CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT
4. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY
5. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL RESERVE DISTANCE
6. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
9. INSTALL DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.
NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the SRS warning light.
