Trunk / Liftgate Lock: Service and Repair

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK

Luggage Compartment Door Lock:






DISASSEMBLY

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE






a. Using a screwdriver, attach the 4 clips and remove the rear floor finish plate.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE SPARE DISC WHEEL
5. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
6. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH






a. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.
b. Remove the trim cover.

7. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

8. REMOVE TOOL BOX COVER
a. Remove the 4 nuts and cover.

9. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY






a. Remove the bolt, and striker LH and RH.

10. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT REAR TRIM COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY






a. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips and trim cover.

11. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL CARRIER BRACKET






a. Remove the 4 bolts and carrier bracket.

12. REMOVE LUGGAGE DOOR LOCK CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY






a. Remove the 2 nuts and cable bracket.
b. Remove the clip, and then disconnect the luggage door lock control cable.
c. Using a clip remover, disconnect the clamp of the cable.

13. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY






a. Remove the 2 nuts.
b. Remove the lock and lift it upward. Move the hinge to the position where the door is in the fully open condition from the front, and disconnect the luggage opener cable.

NOTICE: Be careful not to pull up the cable forcibly.

c. Remove the luggage compartment door lock.

REASSEMBLY

HINT: A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY






a. Install the lock with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

2. INSTALL LUGGAGE DOOR LOCK CONTROL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY






a. Install the cable. Then install the clip to the cable.
b. Install the bracket with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

c. Install the cable to the vehicle body with the clamp.

3. INSTALL SPARE WHEEL CARRIER BRACKET






a. Install the bracket with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

4. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT REAR TRIM COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY






a. Install the trim cover and 4 clips.

5. INSTALL LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY






a. Install the striker LH and RH with the 2 bolts.

6. INSTALL TOOL BOX COVER
a. Install the cover with the 4 nuts.

7. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH






a. Install the trim cover and 3 clips.

8. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the LH side.

9. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
10. INSTALL SPARE DISC WHEEL
11. INSTALL SPARE WHEEL COVER ASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE






a. Install the rear floor finish plate and attach the 4 clips.

13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
14. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
