REMOVAL

HINT: When removing the moulding, heat the vehicle body and moulding using a heat light.





NOTICE: Do not heat the vehicle body and moulding excessively.

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

HINT: It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining so that the back window glass can be removed in a later step.

20. REMOVE AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY
21. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING CENTER LH
22. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING CENTER RH
a. Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING CLIP
24. REMOVE NO. 1 WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING CLIP
a. Use the same procedures described for the No. 2 clip.

a. Use the same procedures described for the RH side.

41. REMOVE BACK WINDOW MOULDING OUTSIDE LOWER
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws, 4 fasteners and double-sided tape (3 areas). Slide the moulding toward the vehicle front along the back window glass to detach the clip. Then remove the moulding.

NOTICE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
- Do not lift the moulding or slide it toward vehicle rear when detaching the clip.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.





42. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER LH





a. Using a screwdriver, detach the double-sided tape (2 areas) and 2 clips. Then remove the hinge cover.

NOTICE:
- If reusing the hinge cover, take care not to damage the hinge cover.
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

43. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER RH
a. Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

44. REMOVE NO. 2 CENTER STOP LIGHT COVER
45. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT COVER
46. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT CLIP
47. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY





48. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

NOTICE: As the stopper, bracket and harness are not supplied individually, be careful not to damage them when installing the back window glass.





a. Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

NOTICE: When separating the back window glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.





b. From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
- If the stopper is damaged, the back window glass assembly must be replaced. Be careful when performing the procedure.
- Make sure not to deform the upper brackets.
- Make sure not to damage the wire harness.


c. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.





d. Place matchmarks over the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

HINT: Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the glass not going to be reused.

e. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.

NOTICE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body possible when removing the back window glass.

f. Using suction cups, remove the back window glass.

NOTICE: If the stopper is damaged, the back window glass assembly must be replaced. Be careful when performing the procedure.





49. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS
a. Clean the outer edge of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.

NOTICE:
- Do not touch the back window glass surface after cleaning it.
- Be careful not to damage the glass.
- Even if using new back window glass, clean the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.





50. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY
a. Using a scraper, remove the moulding and adhesive from the back window glass.
b. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

HINT: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS DAM
a. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the window glass dam.

NOTICE:
- Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Throw away any leftover primer.
- Do not apply too much primer.

b. Remove the peeling paper from the adhesive part of the dam. Install the dam (adhesive side) to the glass (Primer G area).








2. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS





a. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

NOTICE:
- Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not apply primer to the adhesive
- Throw away any leftover primer.
- Do not apply too much primer.

b. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the back window glass.





HINT: If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

NOTICE:
- Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Throw away any leftover primer.
- Do not apply too much primer.

c. Apply adhesive to the back window glass.
Adhesive: Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent
1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration below.

HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.





2. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.
3. Apply adhesive to the back window glass as shown in the illustration.





d. Install the back window glass to the vehicle body.
1. Hold the back window glass securely in place with tape or equivalent until the adhesive has hardened.

NOTICE:
- Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.
- Check the clearance between the vehicle body and glass.

2. Lightly press the front surface of the back window glass to ensure that the back window glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.





3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

HINT: Apply adhesive onto the glass rim.

NOTICE: Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.





4. Install the defogger wire with the nut and 2 clamps.
5. Connect the 2 connectors.

3. CHECK FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR
a. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.
b. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

4. INSTALL CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY

7. INSTALL NO. 2 CENTER STOP LIGHT COVER
8. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER LH
a. Clean the vehicle body surface.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

b. If reusing the moulding:
Clean the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the moulding.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
4. Apply new double-sided tape to the moulding, as shown in the illustration.

c. Install the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and moulding.
2. Remove the peeling paper from the face of the moulding.

HINT: After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.








d. Attach the 2 clips to install the moulding.

9. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE COVER RH
a. Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

10. INSTALL BACK WINDOW MOULDING OUTSIDE LOWER
a. Clean the vehicle body surface.
1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

b. If reusing the moulding:
Clean the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
2. Remove the double-sided tape from the moulding.
3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
4. Apply new double-sided tape to the moulding, as shown in the illustration.





c. Install the moulding.
1. Using a heat light, heat the moulding.
2. Remove the peeling paper from the face of the moulding.

HINT: After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

d. Attach the clip on the center of the moulding. Use the back window glass bottom edge's stoppers (left and right position setting stoppers) to determine the moulding's front to rear position. Then attach the 2 claws and 4 fasteners to install the moulding.

HINT: As the glass bottom edge's stoppers are only for determining the moulding's position, they do not attach to the moulding.

a. Return the roof headlining to its original position.

50. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
