Control Module: Service and Repair

TCM

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 clips and air cleaner inlet cover.
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH





5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

NOTICE:
^ Wipe off any water on or around the engine room ECU cover.
^ Perform these procedures in a dry place away from rain, etc.
^ Do not allow water to enter the ECM through its connector areas, screw areas, etc.

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and engine room ECU cover.





6. REMOVE TCM
(a) Disconnect the 4 connectors.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts and TCM.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL TCM
(a) Install the TCM with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
(b) Connect the 4 connectors.





2. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER
(a) Install the engine room ECU cover with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)
3. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the air cleaner inlet cover with the 2 clips.
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
6. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
7. CHECK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PRECAUTION
(a) After replacing the TCM, certain procedures are necessary.
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
