Removal and Replacement

Starter (for 2.0 kW Type):

STARTER (for 2.0 kW Type)

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the generator.

4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the front exhaust pipe.

5. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR LH
6. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR RH
7. DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER BAR
8. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

a. Remove the screw, clip and engine under cover.

9. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH

a. Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member reinforcement.

10. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE
11. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
12. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
13. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

a. Remove the 3 bolts and heat insulator.

14. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

a. Detach the 11 claws and remove the terminal upper cover.

b. Disconnect the starter connector.
c. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness.

d. Remove the 2 bolts and starter.

e. Remove the nut and starter terminal lower cover.

f. Remove the flywheel housing side cover.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY

a. Install the flywheel housing side cover.

b. Install the terminal lower cover with the nut.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

c. Install the starter with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Make sure the flywheel housing cover is as shown in the illustration.

d. Install the wire harness with the nut.

Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 88 in.lbf)

e. Connect the starter connector.

f. Install the terminal upper cover.

2. INSTALL NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

a. Install the heat insulator with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

3. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
4. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
5. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE
6. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH

a. Install the front suspension member reinforcement with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 50 N.m (510 kgf.cm, 39 ft.lbf)

7. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

a. Install the engine under cover with the clip and screw.

8. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER BAR
9. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR RH
10. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR LH
11. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front exhaust pipe.

12. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY
a. Install the generator.

13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
14. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
15. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
