Front Speed Sensor

REMOVAL

NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.

HINT:
- The front speed sensor is a component of the front axle hub sub-assembly.If the sensor malfunctions, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.
- The procedures listed are for the RH side.
- Other than areas where instructions are provided, use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

4. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE




a. Disconnect the front fender liner so that the skid control sensor wire connector (labeled A) can be seen.
b. Disconnect the sensor connector (labeled A).
c. Detach the sensor clip (labeled B).
d. Remove the bolt (labeled C) and sensor clamp (labeled D).







e. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled E) and 2 sensor clamps (labeled F).




f. for RH:
1. Disconnect the pad wear indicator connector (labeled G).
2. Remove the bolt (labeled H) and sensor clamp (labeled I).




g. Disconnect the connector (labeled J) from the front speed sensor.

NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
- Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.

5. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE FRONT DISC
7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

HINT: The front speed sensor is a component of the front axle hub sub-assembly.If the sensor malfunctions, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.

a. Remove the front axle hub.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

HINT: The front speed sensor is a component of the front axle hub sub-assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.

a. Install the front axle hub.

2. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
3. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT
4. INSTALL FRONT DISC
5. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

6. INSTALL SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE




a. Connect the connector (labeled A) to the front speed sensor.




b. for RH:
1. Install the sensor clamp (labeled B) with the bolt (labeled C).

Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)

2. Connect the pad wear indicator connector (labeled D).







c. Install the 2 sensor clamps (labeled E) with the 2 bolts (labeled F).

Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)

NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the clamps.




d. Install the sensor clamp (labeled G) with the bolt (labeled H).

Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)

NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the clamp.

e. Attach the sensor clip (labeled I).
f. Connect the sensor connector (labeled J).
g. Connect the front fender liner.

7. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque: 140 N.m (1428 kgf.cm, 103 ft.lbf)

8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH

10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

11. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
a. Check the speed sensor signal.
