Engine Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER
NOTE:
- Wipe off any water on or around the engine room ECU cover.
- Perform these procedures in a dry place away from rain, etc.
- Do not allow water to enter the ECM through its connectors areas, screw areas, etc.
a. Remove the 3 bolts and engine room ECU cover.
6. REMOVE TCM
a. Disconnect the 4 TCM connectors.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and TCM.
7. REMOVE ECM
a. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL ECM
a. Install the ECM with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
b. Connect the 6 ECM connectors.
2. INSTALL TCM
a. Install the TCM with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
b. Connect the 4 TCM connectors.
3. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER
a. Install the engine room ECU cover with the 3 bolts.
Torque:7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf)
4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
8. PERFORM RESET MEMORY
NOTE: Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transmission assembly, engine assembly or ECM.
HINT: Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the battery.
9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
