Introduction

In some vehicles, when customers contact the Lexus Link call center to enroll their vehicle for Lexus Link service, the call center is unable to activate the Lexus Link system. A revised Lexus Link ECU is available to address this condition.

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Order a replacement Lexus Link ECU through the exchange program via the vendor exchange application in Dealer Daily.

2. Check the current number of PCS (Personal Calling) minutes available.

A. Press the voice recognition button on the Lexus Link button module and say "Units".

The system will respond with "Verify or Add".

B. Say "Verify".

The system will respond with the number of PCS minutes remaining.

C. Write down the number of minutes remaining.

D. Press the voice recognition button to end voice recognition mode.

3. Replace the Lexus Link ECU.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year and model Owner's Manual: Lexus Link.





4. Put the Lexus Link ECU into demo mode (changing Lexus Link from Factory Mode to Demo Mode [a.k.a. Dealer Mode]).

A. Turn the ignition from OFF to ON.

NOTE:
The vehicle can be running, but does not have to be.

The red LED will flash once, and then the green LED will flash once. A prompt will play in Japanese. Then both LEDs flash 10 times (about 20 seconds).

B. Wait until the flashing is complete and both LEDs turn OFF.





C. While pressing and holding the "VOL +" button, press and release the phone button 5 times within 15 seconds, and then release the "VOL +" button.

When switched to Demo Mode, each LED will flash one time then turn OFF.

D. Confirm Demo Mode by pressing the "SERVICES" button and listening for the Demo Prompt "Hello and welcome to Lexus Link ..." (the ignition MUST be in the ON position for the "SERVICES" button to function).

E. Press the "SERVICES" button again to connect to Lexus Link to activate the Lexus Link ECU.

F. When the Lexus Link advisor comes online, inform the advisor of the number of PCS minutes remaining to ensure the customer's personal calling minutes are properly transferred to the replacement Lexus Link ECU.
