Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP LH
a. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
b. Remove the 2 clamps, loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner cap LH.
5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP RH
a. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
b. Remove the 2 clamps, loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner cap RH.
6. REMOVE MASS AIR FLOW METER (for Bank 1)
a. Remove the 2 screws and MAF meter.
7. REMOVE MASS AIR FLOW METER (for Bank 2)
a. Remove the 2 screws and MAF meter.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER (for Bank 1)
a. Install the MAF meter with the 2 screws.
NOTE: Make sure the O-ring is not pinched.
2. INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW METER (for Bank 2)
a. Install the MAF meter with the 2 screws.
NOTE: Make sure the O-ring is not pinched.
3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP LH
a. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner hose assembly with the hose clamp.
Torque: 3.8 N.m (38 kgf.cm, 34 in.lbf)
NOTE: Insert the protrusion of the air cleaner hose into the hole of the hose clamp.
HINT:
- The hose clamp can be tightened within the range of 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
- When tightening the hose clamp, make sure the hose clamp's end is within the painted white line (width: 2 mm or 0.079 in.).
b. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner case with the 2 clips.
c. Connect the MAF meter connector.
4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP RH
a. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner hose assembly with the hose clamp.
Torque: 3.8 N.m (38 kgf.cm, 34 in.lbf)
NOTE: Insert the protrusion of the air cleaner hose into the hole of the hose clamp.
HINT:
- The hose clamp can be tightened within the range of 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
- When tightening the hose clamp, make sure the hose clamp's end is within the painted white line (width: 2 mm or 0.079 in.).
b. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner case with the 2 clips.
c. Connect the MAF meter connector.
5. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
