Fuel Injector (for Port Injection)

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
- Do not smoke or be near an open flame when working on the fuel system.
- Keep gasoline away from rubber or leather parts.
- Do not allow fuel to spray when removing the pipe between the high pressure side fuel pump and the fuel injector. The fuel in the pipe is highly pressurized.

2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
a. Discharge fuel system pressure.

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

4. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
a. Remove the intake manifold.

5. DISCONNECT NO. 3 FUEL HOSE

a. Remove the fuel pipe clamp.
b. Pinch the tube connector and then pull out the fuel hose.

NOTE:
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
- Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
- Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
- Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
- If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.

6. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Lift up the retainer to release its lock.
b. Pinch the tube connector and then pull out the fuel tube.

Then disconnect the tube.

7. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

b. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps.

c. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 fuel delivery pipes.

NOTE: When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

d. Remove the 4 delivery pipe spacers and 8 insulators from the intake manifold.

8. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

a. Remove the fuel injector from the fuel delivery pipe.

NOTE: For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

b. Disconnect the connector from the injector.

c. Remove the O-ring from the fuel injector assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

a. Apply gasoline to a new O-ring and install it to the injector.

NOTE: Check that there is no damage or foreign material in the groove of the injector when installing the injector's O-ring.

b. Connect the connector to the injector.

c. Install the injector to the delivery pipe as given in the illustration.

NOTE:
- Make sure that there are no scratches or foreign matter in or around the insertion hole of the delivery pipe.
- When inserting the injector, be careful not to damage the O-ring.
- Attach the part of the injector labeled B between the parts of the delivery pipe labeled A.

2. INSTALL FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Connect the 4 wire harness clamps.
b. Install the 4 delivery pipe spacers and 8 insulators to the intake manifold.
c. Install the 2 delivery pipes (with injector) to the intake manifold.

d. Install the 4 bolts.

Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Check that the part of the injector labeled B is between the parts of the delivery pipe labeled A.

e. Connect the 2 connectors.

3. CONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Push in the tube connector to the pipe until the tube connector makes a "click" sound.
b. Push down on the retainer to lock it in place.

NOTE:
- Check that there is no damage or foreign objects on the connected part of the fuel pipe.
- After connecting, check that the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by pulling on them.

4. CONNECT NO. 3 FUEL HOSE

a. Push in the tube connector to the pipe until the tube connector makes a "click" sound.
