EXHAUST PIPE

REMOVAL

CAUTION:
^ The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.
^ Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.
^ The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
^ Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
4. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
5. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.

6. REMOVE NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.





7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH
(a) Remove the clip, nut, 5 screws and cover.

8. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH
(a) Remove the clip, nut, 5 screws and cover.





9. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH
(a) Remove the 3 clips, 3 screws, 4 grommets and cover.

10. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH
(a) Remove the 3 clips, 3 screws, 4 grommets and cover.





11. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and brace.

12. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2)
(a) Disconnect the 2 grommets from the floor panel.
(b) Using SST, loosen the 2 sensors, and then disconnect the sensor by hand.

NOTICE: Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.





13. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily loosen the 8 bolts on the tailpipe and manifold sides.
(b) Remove the 4 nuts and 4 bolts from the exhaust manifold LH and RH side.
(c) Remove the 4 bolts from the tailpipe LH and RH side. Then remove the front exhaust pipe.
(d) Remove the 2 gaskets from the exhaust manifold side and the 2 gaskets from the tailpipe side.

14. REMOVE TAILPIPE LH
(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.

15. REMOVE TAILPIPE RH
(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.








16. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Perform the procedures below with at least 2 people.





1. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)





2. INSTALL TAILPIPE RH
(a) Connect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to install the tailpipe.

3. INSTALL TAILPIPE LH
(a) Connect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to install the tailpipe.





4. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install 2 new gaskets to the exhaust manifold LH and RH.

NOTICE: Do not reuse the 2 removed gaskets.





(b) Install 2 new gaskets to the exhaust pipe rear ends.

NOTICE: Do not reuse the 2 removed gaskets.

(c) Install the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold LH and RH with the 4 bolts and 4 new nuts.
Torque: 39 N*m (398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE: Do not reuse the 4 removed nuts.

(d) Install the front exhaust pipe's tailpipe LH and RH side with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 39 N*m (398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf)








5. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE
(a) Install the brace with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 7.4 N*m (75 kgf*cm, 65 in.*lbf)

6. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2)

NOTICE: Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.





(a) Pre-rotate the sensor 4 times counterclockwise, and then install the sensor to the exhaust pipe by hand.





(b) Using SST, tighten the 2 sensors.
SST 09224-00010
Torque: with SST
40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf)
without SST
44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE:
^ Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight line.
^ Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).

(c) Connect the 2 grommets to the floor panel.





7. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
(a) If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak. Replace the damaged parts as necessary.





8. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER RH
(a) Install the cover with the 3 clips, 3 screws and 4 grommets.

9. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER LH
(a) Install the cover with the 3 clips, 3 screws and 4 grommets.





10. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH
(a) Install the cover with the clip, nut and 5 screws.

11. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH
(a) Install the cover with the clip, nut and 5 screws.

12. INSTALL NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Install the protector with the 2 clips and screw.

13. INSTALL NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Install the protector with the 2 clips and screw.

14. INSTALL NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
15. INSTALL NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
17. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
18. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
