Camshaft Oil Control Valve
REMOVAL1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER
5. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
6. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)
a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
7. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)
a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring, and install it to the oil control valve.
b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
NOTE:
- Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the oil control valve (connecting surface with cylinder head cover subassembly).
- Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or jumped when installing the oil control valve.
c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring, and install it to the oil control valve.
b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
NOTE:
- Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the oil control valve (connecting surface with cylinder head cover subassembly).
- Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or jumped when installing the oil control valve.
c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER
5. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
9. DRIVING TEST
a. After the engine is warmed up, perform the driving test. Then check that the oil control valve operates normally.
