Component Tightening Specifications and Sequences
CYLINDER HEAD (for Bank 1)The cylinder head bolts are tightened in 3 progressive steps.
Step 1:
Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts with the plate washers in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
Step 2:
Mark the cylinder head bolt head with paint as shown in the illustration.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Step 3:
Tighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Check that the painted marks are now facing rearward.
CYLINDER HEAD (for Bank 2)
The cylinder head bolts are tightened in 3 progressive steps.
Step 1:
Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, install and uniformly tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts with the plate washers in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 36 N*m (367 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
Step 2:
Mark the cylinder head bolt head with paint as shown in the illustration.
Tighten the cylinder head bolts another 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Step 3:
Tighten the cylinder head bolts by an additional 90° in the sequence shown in step 1.
Check that the painting marks are now facing rearward.
CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP (for Bank 1)
Install the 12 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) for bolt A
Torque 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) for except bolt A
Tighten the 8 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)
CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP (for Bank 2)
Install the 12 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) for bolt A
Torque 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) for except bolt A
Tighten the 8 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)
CRANKSHAFT MAIN BEARING CAP
The main bearing cap bolts are tightened in 2 progressive steps.
Step 1:
Install and uniformly tighten the 20 main bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque: 61 N*m (622 kgf*cm, 45 ft.*lbf) for inside position
Torque: 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf) for outside position
If any of the main bearing cap bolts does not meet the specified torque, replace it.
Step 2:
Mark the front of the bearing cap bolts with paint.
Tighten the bearing cap bolts another 90° in the order shown in step 1.
heck that the painted marks are now at a 90° angle to the front.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
Install and uniformly tighten the 10 main bearing cap bolts and 10 seal washers in several steps, in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 45 N*m (459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf)
CONNECTING ROD BEARING
Step 1:
Install and alternately tighten the bolts of the connecting rod cap in several steps.
Torque 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf)
Step 2:
Mark the front side of each connecting cap bolt with paint.
Tighten the cap bolts another 90° as shown in the illustration in the order in step 1.
Check that the painted marks are now at a 90° angle to the front.
CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
Torque 300 N*m (3059 kgf*cm, 221 ft.*lbf)
DRIVE PLATE
Uniformly install and tighten 10 new bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)
OIL PUMP COVER
Install the oil pump cover, drive rotor and driven rotor with the 13 bolts.
Torque 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
EXHAUST MANIFOLD LH
Install the exhaust manifold LH, and install 8 new nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
EXHAUST MANIFOLD RH
Install the exhaust manifold RH, and install 8 new nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
WATER PUMP
Install the 9 bolts as shown the illustration.
Torque 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) for bolt A
Torque 23 N*m (235 kgf*cm, 17 ft.*lbf) for bolt B
Torque 47 N*m (479 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf) for bolt C
