Variable Valve Timing Actuator Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE NO.1 AIR CLEANER INLET

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH




a. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
b. Remove the 2 clips, hose clamp and air cleaner cap.
c. Remove the element from the air cleaner case.




d. Remove the 2 nuts, clip and air cleaner case.

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
b. Remove the 2 clips, hose clamp and air cleaner cap.
c. Remove the element from the air cleaner case.




d. Remove the 2 nuts, clip and air cleaner case.

6. REMOVE VVT SENSOR




a. Disconnect the 4 VVT sensors.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 VVT sensors.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL VVT SENSOR




a. Install the 4 VVT sensors with the 4 bolts.

Torque:10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

b. Connect the 4 VVT sensor connectors.

2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY




a. Install the air cleaner case with the 2 nuts and clip.

Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

b. Install the element to the air cleaner case.




c. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner hose assembly with the hose clamp.

Torque: 3.8 N.m (38 kgf.cm, 34 in.lbf)

NOTE: Insert the protrusion of the air cleaner hose into the hole of the hose clamp.

HINT:
- The hose clamp can be tightened within the range of 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
- When tightening the hose clamp, make sure the hose clamp's end is within the painted white line (width: 2 mm or 0.079 in.).

d. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner case with the 2 clips.
e. Connect the MAF meter connector.

3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY LH




a. Install the air cleaner case with the 2 nuts and clip.

Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

b. Install the element to the air cleaner case.




c. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner hose assembly with the hose clamp.

Torque: 3.8 N.m (38 kgf.cm, 34 in.lbf)

NOTE: Insert the protrusion of the air cleaner hose into the hole of the hose clamp.

HINT:
- The hose clamp can be tightened within the range of 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf).
- When tightening the hose clamp, make sure the hose clamp's end is within the painted white line (width: 2 mm or 0.079 in.).

d. Install the air cleaner cap to the air cleaner case with the 2 clips.
e. Connect the MAF meter connector.

4. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
