Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

COMPONENTS:





REPLACEMENT
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the automatic transmission.

3. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUBASSEMBLY





4. REMOVE ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL
(a) Remove the oil seal with a screwdriver.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

NOTICE: Do not damage the surface of the oil seal press fit hole and crankshaft.





5. INSTALL ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL
(a) Using SST, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the oil seal retainer edge.
SST 09223-15030, 09950-70010 (09951-07150)

NOTICE:
^ Keep the lip free from foreign matter.
^ Do not tap on the oil seal at an angle.

6. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUBASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the automatic transmission.
