COMPONENTS (Part 6):
DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR TUBE
(a) Using SST, disconnect the brake stroke simulator tube from the brake master cylinder with simulator.
SST 09023-00101
2. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 nuts (labeled A), brake master cylinder bracket (labeled B) and brake master cylinder gasket (labeled C).
3. REMOVE BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR BRACKET
(a) Remove the 2 bolts (labeled A), brake stroke simulator bracket (labeled B) and brake master cylinder gasket (labeled C).
4. REMOVE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
(a) Remove the push rod clevis and lock nut.
HINT: If the protrusion of the push rod in relation to the push rod clevis is measured beforehand, it is easier to perform the brake pedal height adjustment after the brake master cylinder with simulator is installed.
5. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the screw and brake master cylinder reservoir.
6. REMOVE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR GROMMET
(a) Remove the 2 reservoir grommets from the brake master cylinder with simulator.
REASSEMBLY
1. INSTALL MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR GROMMET
(a) Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to 2 new reservoir grommets and install them to the brake master cylinder with simulator.
2. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the brake master cylinder reservoir with the screw.
Torque: 1.8 N*m (18 kgf*cm, 16 in.*lbf)
3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
(a) Temporarily install the lock nut and push rod clevis.
4. INSTALL BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR BRACKET
(a) Install a new brake master cylinder gasket (labeled A) and brake stroke simulator bracket (labeled B) with the 2 bolts (labeled C).
Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
5. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER BRACKET
(a) Install a new brake master cylinder gasket (labeled A) and brake master cylinder bracket (labeled B) to the brake master cylinder with simulator with the 2 nuts (labeled C).
Torque: 12.5 N*m (128 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
6. INSTALL BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR TUBE
(a) Using SST, connect the brake stroke simulator tube to the brake master cylinder with simulator.
SST 09023-00101
Torque:
15 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) without SST
14 N*m (145 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) with SST
HINT:
^ Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).
^ This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to a torque wrench.
7. ADJUST MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS
(a) Adjust the master cylinder push rod clevis as shown in the illustration.
Length "A":
122.1 to 123.1 mm (4.807 to 4.846 in.)
(b) Tighten the lock nut.
Torque: 26 N*m (265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)
