REMOVAL
NOTICE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/close the doors while the battery is connected.
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.
2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the instrument panel safety pad.
5. DISCONNECT CONNECTORS
(a) Disconnect the brake pedal stroke sensor connector (labeled A).
(b) Disconnect the stop light switch connector (labeled B), and then detach the wire harness clamp (labeled C).
6. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING
(a) Remove the spring.
7. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN
(a) Remove the clip and push rod pin.
8. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 nuts.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and brake pedal support.
INSTALLATION
NOTICE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.
1. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the brake pedal support with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 19 N*m (195 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)
(b) Install the 4 nuts.
Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
2. INSTALL PUSH ROD PIN
(a) Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the push rod pin.
(b) Set the master cylinder push rod clevis in place, insert the push rod pin from outside of the vehicle and then install a new clip.
3. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING
(a) Install the spring between the pedal and steering column as shown in the illustration.
4. CONNECT CONNECTORS
(a) Connect the stop light switch connector (labeled A) and then attach the wire harness clamp (labeled B).
(b) Connect the brake pedal stroke sensor connector (labeled C).
5. CHECK BRAKE DRAG
6. CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT
7. ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL STROKE SENSOR
8. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY
9. CHECK BRAKE PEDAL RESERVE DISTANCE
10. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY
(a) Install the instrument panel safety pad.
11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
12. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.
NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
14. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the SRS warning light.
