Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.
1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE
4. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH
6. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH
7. REMOVE BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY COVER
NOTE: Do not remove the cover if planning to reuse the brake control power supply.
a. Remove the cover if planning to replace the brake control power supply.
8. REMOVE BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY ASSEMBLY
CAUTION: Immediately after removing the brake control power supply from the vehicle, there may be an electrical charge left in the internal capacitor. If planning to inspect the inside of the brake control power supply, leave it as is for more than 24 hours (to discharge it) after removing it from the vehicle. Then perform the inspection.
a. Remove the 3 nuts and brake control power supply.
b. Disconnect the connector.
9. REMOVE NO. 1 BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY BRACKET
a. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 brackets.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/ close the doors while the battery is connected.
1. INSTALL NO. 1 BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY BRACKET
a. Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)
2. INSTALL BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the connector to the brake control power supply.
b. Install the brake control power supply with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
3. INSTALL BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY COVER
a. If the brake control power supply is replaced, install a new cover as follows:
1. Peel off the peeling paper of the double-sided tape.
2. Place the cover so that the 4 corner lines on the cover align with the corners of the brake control power supply, and so that the cover arrow is the connector.
4. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH
5. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH
6. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE
8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
11. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC
a. Check and clear the DTCs.
