Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY.
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER RH
6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH
7. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
8. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
9. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
10. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
12. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
13. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
14. REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
15. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
16. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
17. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK

18. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE(for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)

a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

19. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE(for Bank 1 Intake Side)

a. Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket.

b. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
c. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
d. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

20. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE(for Bank 2 Intake Side)

a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

21. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE(for Bank 2 Exhaust Side)

a. Disconnect the wiring harness to the bracket.
b. Remove the bolt and bracket.

c. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
d. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
e. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Intake Side)

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the oil control valve.

d. Install the bracket with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N.m (104 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

e. Connect the wiring harness at the bracket.

2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Exhaust Side)

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the oil control valve.

b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or jumped when installing the oil control valve.

c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.

d. Install the V-bank cover bracket with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

4. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the oil control valve.

b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or jumped when installing the oil control valve.

c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.

5. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
6. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY
7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
8. CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
9. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
10. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
11. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
13. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
15. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
16. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
17. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER RH
18. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH
19. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
21. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
22. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
