Steering Control Module: Service and Repair
POWER STEERING ECUCOMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE BATTERY
(a) Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable from the battery.
(b) Disconnect the positive (+) battery cable from the battery.
(c) Remove the 2 nuts and the battery clamp.
(d) Remove the battery insulator.
(e) Remove the battery.
2. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the No. 1 battery tray support.
(b) Remove the 3 bolts.
(c) Release the locks of 2 power steering ECU assembly connectors (a) and (b) and disconnect the connectors.
(d) Disconnect connector
(c) from the power steering ECU assembly.
(e) Remove the power steering ECU assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect connector (c) to the power steering ECU assembly.
(b) Connect 2 power steering ECU assembly connectors (a) and (b) and securely lock the connectors.
(c) Install the power steering ECU assembly to the battery tray with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
(d) Install the No. 1 battery tray support.
2. INSTALL BATTERY
(a) Install the battery.
(b) Install the battery insulator.
(c) Install the battery clamp with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 2.9 N*m (30 kgf*cm, 26 in.*lbf)
(d) Connect the positive (+) battery cable to the battery.
Torque: 5.6 N*m (57 kgf*cm, 50 in.*lbf)
(e) Connect the negative (-) battery cable to the battery.
Torque: 5.6 N*m (57 kgf*cm, 50 in.*lbf)
3. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
HINT: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
4. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
