Rear Airbag Sensor:
REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read PRECAUTION, refer to Restraint Systems Service Precautions thoroughly before servicing.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the bolt and rear airbag sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Check that the engine switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
CAUTION: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
c. Install the rear airbag sensor with the bolt.
Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)
NOTE:
- If the rear airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the rear airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
d. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the rear airbag sensor.
e. Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
3. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
4. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
HINT: Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
