Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH
6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER RH
7. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
8. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
9. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
10. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
12. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
13. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
14. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
15. REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
16. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
17. SEPARATE THROTTLE BODY
18. REMOVE COLD START INJECTOR
19. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK

20. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)
a. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.

21. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Intake Side)
a. Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket.

b. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
c. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
d. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.

22. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Exhaust Side)
a. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.

23. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Intake Side)
a. Disconnect the 2 wire harness cramps from the bracket.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.

c. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
d. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve.
e. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Intake Side)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve.

d. Install the bracket with the 2 bolts.

Torque: Bolt A 10 N.m (104 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) Bolt B 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)

e. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps to the bracket.

2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Exhaust Side)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve.

3. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Intake Side)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve.

d. Install the V-bank cover bracket with the bolt.

Torque:10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

4. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)
a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the camshaft timing oil control valve.

b. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve with the bolt.

Torque:10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked or jumped when installing the oil control valve.

c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.

5. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
6. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY
7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
8. CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
9. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
10. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
11. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
13. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
15. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
16. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
17. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH
18. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER RH
19. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
21. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
22. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
