Toe Control Link
TOE CONTROL LINKComponents:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK
a) Disconnect the skid control sensor connector.
b) Remove the bolt and separate the skid control sensor wire from the toe control link.
c) Remove the nut on the axle carrier side.
d) Using SST, disconnect the toe control link.

NOTICE:
^ Securely tie the string of the SST to the vehicle.
^ Do not damage the dust cover.
^ Securely set the SST on the spacer of the axle carrier.
^ If the spacer of the axle carrier comes off, replace the axle carrier with a new one.
e) Put matchmarks on the rear No.2 suspension toe adjust plate and rear suspension member.
f) Remove the nut, rear suspension toe adjust cam assembly, rear No.2 suspension toe adjust plate, and toe control link.
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK
a) Secure the rear upper No.2 control arm in a vise between aluminum plates.
NOTICE: Do not overtighten the vise.
b) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
c) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.9 to 3.5 Nm (9.17 to 35.7 kgf-cm, 0.6 to 2.5 ft. lbs.) or less
If the value is not within the specified range, replace the rear suspension toe control link with a new one.
d) Check the dust boot for cracks or grease leakage.
INSTALLATION
1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK
a) Install the toe control link and insert the toe adjust cam from the front of the vehicle. Then, install the rear No.2 suspension toe adjust plate and temporarily tighten the nut.
NOTICE: Align the matchmarks on the rear suspension member and rear No.2 suspension toe adjust plate.
HINT: Fully tighten the nut after stabilizing the suspension.
b) Install the rear suspension toe control link with a new nut.
Torque: 70 Nm (714 kgf-cm, 52 ft. lbs.)
2. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
a) Jack up the axle carrier, with a wooden block placed between the jack and axle carrier, to apply a load to the rear suspension so that the rear drive shaft assembly becomes level.
3. FULLY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK
a) Fully tighten the nut on the rear suspension member side.
Torque: 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Check that the matchmarks on the rear suspension member and rear No.2 suspension toe adjust plate are aligned.
b) Install the skid control sensor wire with the bolt.
c) Connect the skid control sensor connector.
4. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
5. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
