Front Lower Suspension Arm

FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (for 4WD)

Components:





REMOVAL
1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
3. SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK ASSEMBLY
4. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR
5. SEPARATE FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM
6. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
9. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
10. REMOVE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM





a) Support the front suspension crossmember with a transmission jack.

NOTICE: Be sure to place a wooden block between the front suspension crossmember and transmission jack.





b) Remove the 2 bolts from the front lower ball joint.





c) Loosen the installation nut of the lower No.2 arm bracket assembly.

NOTICE: Do not remove the nut.





d) Put matchmarks on the front No.2 suspension camber adjust cam and crossmember.
e) Remove the nut and front No.2 suspension camber adjust cam.
f) Remove the front No.1 suspension camber adjust cam.





g) Remove the 4 bolts, side rail plate, and front lower suspension arm with the No.2 lower arm bracket assembly.

11. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT
12. REMOVE LOWER NO.2 ARM BRACKET ASSEMBLY





a) Remove the nut, washer, and lower No.2 arm bracket assembly from the front lower suspension arm.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL LOWER NO.2 ARM BRACKET ASSEMBLY





a) Temporarily install the lower No.2 arm bracket assembly to the front lower suspension arm with the nut and washer.

2. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT
3. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM





a) Install the front lower suspension arm and side rail plate with the 4 bolts.
Torque: Bolt 1 165 Nm (1,682 kgf-cm, 121 ft. lbs.)
Bolt 2 86 Nm (877 kgf-cm, 63 ft. lbs.)
Bolt 3 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.)





b) Insert the front No.1 suspension camber adjust cam from the rear of the vehicle. Then install the front No.2 suspension camber adjust cam and temporarily tighten the nut.

NOTICE: Align the matchmarks before installation.

HINT: Fully tighten the nut after stabilizing the suspension.





c) Install the front lower ball joint with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 120 Nm (1,220 kgf-cm, 89 ft. lbs.)

4. INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
5. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
7. CONNECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM
8. CONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR
9. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
10. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING
11. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM





a) Fully tighten the bolt on the front of the front lower suspension arm.
Torque: 119 Nm (1,210 kgf-cm, 88 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Align the matchmarks on the front No.2 suspension adjusting cam and crossmember.





b) Fully tighten the installation nut of the lower No.2 arm bracket assembly.
Torque: 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.)

12. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)

14. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
