Rear Active Stabilizer Control Actuator

REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR (for 3UZ-FE)

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.


2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER LH
3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER RH
4. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
5. REMOVE TOOL BOX





6. REMOVE REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU COVER
(a) Disconnect the clamp from the cover.
(b) Remove the 4 nuts and ECU cover.





7. DISCONNECT REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Using the procedures below, disconnect the ECU connector.
(1) Release the lever's lock. (*1)
(2) Press the claw and move the lever in the direction of the arrow in the illustration. (*2)
(3) Disconnect the ECU connector. (*3)

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the connector, do not apply excessive force to the wire harness.

(b) Remove the 2 clamps and packing, and move the disconnected side of the wire harness out of the vehicle.





8. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs, and disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the tailpipe.
(b) Remove the tailpipe from the 6 No. 4 exhaust pipe supports.
9. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
10. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 nuts and support protector.





11. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the nut labeled A, and disconnect the link from the stabilizer.

HINT:
If the stud bolts turn freely, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench.

(b) Remove the bolt labeled B, and disconnect the link and bracket from the No. 2 suspension arm.
12. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.





13. REMOVE REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 brackets, 2 bushes and control actuator.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the 2 bushes.

HINT:
^ Install each bush to the inner side of each bush stopper on the stabilizer bar.
^ Install each bush with its slit facing the vehicle rear side.

(b) Temporarily install the rear stabilizer control actuator with the bracket and 4 bolts so that the actuator is on the right side of the vehicle.

HINT:
Place the disconnected side of the wire harness into the luggage room.

(c) Tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 32 N*m (326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf)





2. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the stabilizer link and bracket to the rear No. 2 suspension arm with the bolt and nut labeled (B).
Torque: 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)
(b) Install the stabilizer link to the stabilizer with the nut labeled (A).
Torque: 89 N*m (908 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf)

HINT:
If the stud bolts turn freely, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench.

3. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

4. INSTALL NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
(a) Install the support protector with the 2 nuts.
5. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
6. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the tailpipe to the 6 No. 4 exhaust pipe supports.
(b) Install the tailpipe and a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque: 43 N*m (439 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)





7. CONNECT REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the 2 clamps and wire harness packing.
(b) Using the procedures below, connect the ECU connector.
(1) Connect the ECU connector. (*1)
(2) Rotate the lever in the direction of the arrow until a "click" sound is heard. (*2)
(3) Lock the lever's lock. (*3)
8. INSTALL REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU COVER
(a) Install the ECU cover with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)
(b) Connect the harness clamp to the ECU cover.
9. INSTALL TOOL BOX
10. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
11. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER LH
12. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER RH
13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
14. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
