Front Active Stabilizer Control Actuator

FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR (for 3UZ-FE)

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.


2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH





5. DISCONNECT FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU
(a) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and disconnect the ECU from the body.

HINT:
^ Before disconnecting the ECU connector, disconnect the ECU. Prevent the ECU from contacting the vehicle.
^ After disconnecting the ECU connector, temporarily install the ECU.





6. DISCONNECT FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
(b) Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps from the bracket.
(c) Using the procedures below, disconnect the ECU connector.
(1) Release the lever's lock. (*1)
(2) Press the claw and move the lever in the direction of the arrow in the illustration. (*2)
(3) Disconnect the ECU connector. (*3)

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the connector, do not apply excessive force to the wire harness.





7. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 nuts and link from the stabilizer bar.
8. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.





9. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR LH
(a) Remove the screw and under cover.
10. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

11. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
(a) Remove the EPS wire harness.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and bracket from the crossmember.
12. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 STABILIZER BRACKET RH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, bracket and control actuator.

NOTICE:
The front active stabilizer control actuator is very heavy. Be careful not to drop it.





13. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
(a) Disconnect the clamp from the bracket.
(b) Remove the 5 bolts and bracket from the frame.
14. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

15. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BAR BUSH
(a) Remove the 2 bushes from the control actuator.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BAR BUSH
(a) Install the 2 bushes.

HINT:
^ Install each bush to the inner side of each bush stopper on the stabilizer bar.
^ Install each bush with its slit facing the vehicle front side.





2. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
(a) Push the bracket toward the outside of the vehicle against the frame, and temporarily install the bolt labeled (1).
(b) Install bolt (2). Then tighten bolt (1). Then install bolt (3) and (4).
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
(c) Install bolt (5).
Torque: 100 N*m (1,020 kgf*cm, 74 ft.*lbf)
(d) Install the wire clamp to the bracket.
3. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.





4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily install the control actuator, 2 bushes and 2 brackets with the 4 bolts.

NOTICE:
Install the actuator so that it is on the right side of the vehicle.

5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 STABILIZER BRACKET LH
(a) Tighten the bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
6. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

7. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR LH
(a) Install the under cover with the screw.
8. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER REAR RH
(a) Install the under cover with the screw.
9. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the link to the lower arm side and stabilizer bar side with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 84 N*m (857 kgf*cm, 62 ft.*lbf)
10. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.





11. CONNECT FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Using the procedures below, connect the connector to the front active stabilizer control ECU.
(1) Connect the connector to the front active stabilizer control ECU. (*1)
(2) Rotate the lever in the direction of the arrow until a "click" sound is heard. (*2)
(3) Lock the lever's lock. (*3)
(b) Install the wire clamp to the bracket.
(c) Install the ground wire to the front active stabilizer control ECU with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
12. CONNECT FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the ECU connector.

HINT:
Connect the ECU connector before installing the ECU.

(b) Install the ECU with the bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque:
7 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf) for nut
9 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 7 in.*lbf) for bolt
(c) Using the procedures below, connect the 2 ECU connectors.
(1) Connect the ECU connectors.
(2) Rotate the lever in the direction of the arrow until a "click" sound is heard.
(3) Lock the lever's lock.
(d) Install the ground wire to the ECU with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
(e) Connect the 2 wire harness clamps to the bracket.
13. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH
14. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
15. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
17. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
