Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
a. Remove the 2 nuts and cover.

3. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for EVAP)




a. Disconnect the connector and 2 hoses.
b. Remove the bolt and VSV.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for EVAP)




a. Install the EVAP VSV with the bolt.

Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

b. Connect the 2 hoses and connector.

2. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
a. Install the cover with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
