Front Upper Suspension Arm

FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM

REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for AVS)
2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
4. SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT (for 2WD)
5. SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT (for 4WD)
6. SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT (for 2WD)
7. SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT (for 4WD)
8. SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM
9. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
10. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP UPPER (for AVS)
11. REMOVE ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR (for AVS)
12. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING (for 2WD)
13. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING (for 4WD)





14. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and front suspension upper arm.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM
(a) Flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration before installing the nut.
(b) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 2 to 4 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.98 N*m (10 kgf*cm, 8.7 in.*lbf) or less
If the value is not within the specified range, replace the front suspension upper arm with a new one.
(c) Check the dust boots for cracks or grease leakage.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM
(a) Install the front suspension upper arm with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
2. INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING (for 2WD)
3. INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING (for 4WD)
4. INSTALL ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR (for AVS)
5. INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP UPPER (for AVS)
6. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
7. CONNECT FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM
8. CONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT (for 2WD)
9. CONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY FRONT (for 4WD)
10. CONNECT SPEED SENSOR FRONT (for 2WD)
11. CONNECT SPEED SENSOR FRONT (for 4WD)
12. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
14. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
15. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
16. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
