Braking Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH FRONT
3. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.1 UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.1 SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO.1
11. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL STROKE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly connector.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL STROKE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
a. New brake pedal stroke sensor assembly:
1. Install the new brake pedal stroke sensor assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)
NOTE:
- Engage the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly lever with the brake pedal groove.
- Check that there is no foreign matter attached to the brake pedal stroke sensor's contacting surface.
2. Strongly depress the brake pedal and break the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly lever set pin.
3. Remove the broken lever set pin.
4. Connect the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly connector.
b. Reuse of brake pedal stroke sensor assembly :
1. Temporarily install the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly with the 2 nuts.
NOTE:
- Engage the brake pedal stroke sensor lever with the brake pedal groove.
- Check that there is no foreign matter attached to the brake pedal stroke sensor's contacting surface.
2. Connect the connector of the brake pedal stroke sensor assembly.
3. Connect negative battery terminal.
4. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Reading the stroke sensor 1 value shown on the data monitor, turn the stroke sensor slowly to the right and left to adjust it to the standard voltage.
Standard voltage: 0.8 to 1. 2 V 6.
6. Fully tighten the 2 nuts.
Torque: 8.5 N.m (86 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf)
NOTE: Do not depress the brake pedal after turning the engine switch on (IG).
2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.1 AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.1 SAFETY PAD SUB ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL NO.1 UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
8. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
9. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH FRONT
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
