Air Fuel Ratio Sensor
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
6. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
8. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK
9. REMOVE BATTERY
10. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and battery tray.
12. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2WD)
13. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 4WD)
14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2WD)
15. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (for 2WD)
16. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH (for 2WD)
17. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the front exhaust pipe.
18. REMOVE OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for 2WD)
19. REMOVE OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for 4WD)
20. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
21. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
22. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Disconnect the sensor connector.
b. Remove the 6 nuts, manifold and gasket.
23. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)
a. Using SST, remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold RH.

24. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1)
a. Using SST, remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold LH.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)
a. Using SST, install the sensor to the exhaust manifold RH.

Torque:
without SST 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
with SST 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
HINT:
- Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).
- Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight line.
2. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1)
a. Using SST, install the sensor to the exhaust manifold LH.

Torque:
without SST 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
with SST 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
HINT:
- Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).
- Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight line.
3. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
a. Install a new gasket.
b. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head with the 6 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
NOTE: Do not damage the stud bolt when installing the exhaust manifold.
c. Connect the sensor connector.
4. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
5. INSTALL FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
6. INSTALL OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for 4WD)
7. INSTALL OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE (for 2WD)
8. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front exhaust pipe
9. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH (for 2WD)
10. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (for 2WD)
11. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2WD)
12. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 4WD)
13. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2WD)
14. INSTALL BATTERY TRAY
a. Install the battery tray with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
15. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
16. INSTALL BATTERY
17. CONNECT NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK
18. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
19. CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
20. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
21. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
22. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
23. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
24. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
25. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
26. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT.
