FRONT BRAKE

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surfaces.





3. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE WITH HOLE PIN
(a) Remove the pin hold clip.

NOTICE: The pin hold clip can be used again if it has sufficient rebound; no deformation, cracks or wear; and has had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.

(b) Remove the front disc brake anti-rattle with hole pin while pushing on the anti-rattle spring.

4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING

NOTICE: The anti-rattle spring can be used again if it has sufficient rebound; no deformation, cracks or wear; and has had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.

5. REMOVE DISC BRAKE PAD KIT FRONT (PAD ONLY)
(a) Remove the 2 pads and the 2 anti-squeal shims from each pad.





6. DISCONNECT FRONT BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake cylinder, and then disconnect the front brake flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder.





7. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder from the knuckle.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 78.4 N*m (800 kgf*cm, 58 ft.*lbf)





2. CONNECT FRONT BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Connect the flexible hose with the union bolt and a new gasket.
Torque: 39 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE: Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the disc brake cylinder.

3. INSTALL DISC BRAKE PAD KIT FRONT (PAD ONLY)

HINT: Install the clip lock securely in the groove of the pad.





(a) Apply disc brake grease to the anti-squeal shims and install them to each pad.

NOTICE:
^ When replacing worn pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the pad.
^ Install each shim in the correct position and direction.
^ There should be no oil or grease on the friction surface of the pads and disc.

4. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING

NOTICE: The anti-rattle spring can be used again if it has sufficient rebound; no deformation, cracks or wear; and has had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.

5. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE WITH HOLE PIN

NOTICE: The pin hold clip can be used again if it has sufficient rebound; no deformation, cracks or wear; and has had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.





(a) Install the hole pin while pushing on the front disc brake anti-rattle spring.
(b) Install the pin hold clip.

6. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL (for 3UZ-FE)
7. ADD RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (for 2GR-FSE)
8. ADD RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (for 3UZ-FE)
9. BLEED BRAKE LINE (for 2GR-FSE)
10. BLEED FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM (for 3UZ-FE)
11. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL (for 2GR-FSE)
12. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL (for 3UZ-FE)
13. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC (for 2GR-FSE)
(a) Check and clear the DTC.

14. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC (for 3UZ-FE)
(a) Check and clear the DTC.

15. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
