Removal and Replacement

REAR CONSOLE BOX

Rear Console Box:

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the claws and remove the garnish.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL ASSEMBLY

a. Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

b. Using a screwdriver, detach the 9 clips.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

c. Remove the ash receptacle and then disconnect the connector.

4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 clips and 3 claws.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

c. Remove the finish panel end.

5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips and 3 claws.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

c. Remove the finish panel end.

6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX PLATE
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the console box plate and then disconnect the connector.

7. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips and remove the register.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

8. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX
a. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 screws.
b. Remove the console box and then disconnect the connector.

INSTALLATION

HINT: A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX
a. Connect the connector.
b. Install the console box with the 4 bolts and 2 screws.

2. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
a. Attach the 4 clips to install the register.

3. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX PLATE
a. Connect the connector.
b. Attach the 4 clips to install the console box plate.

4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
a. Attach the 4 clips and 3 claws to install the finish panel end.
b. Install the screw.

5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
a. Attach the 3 clips and 3 claws to install the finish panel end.
b. Install the screw.

6. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER PANEL ASSEMBLY

a. Connect the connector.
b. Attach the 9 clips to install the ash receptacle.

c. Install the shift lever knob and twist it in the direction indicated by the arrow.

7. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
a. Attach the claws to install the garnish.

8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Perform initialization.

10. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
Check the SRS warning light.
