Windshield Washer Motor: Service and Repair

FRONT WASHER MOTOR
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER LH
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 clips.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and partially remove the fender liner.
HINT: It is not necessary to fully remove the fender liner. Partially remove it so that the bumper cover, windshield washer jar and pump can be removed in a later step.
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 clips and partially remove the fender liner.
HINT: It is not necessary to fully remove the fender liner. Partially remove it so that the bumper cover can be removed in a later step.
6. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER
7. REMOVE NO. 3 COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SUBASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 bolts and duct.
8. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH
9. DRAIN WASHER FLUID
a. Remove the washer hose from the windshield washer motor and pump, and drain the washer fluid.
10. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
a. w/o Headlight cleaner system:
Disconnect the 2 connectors.
b. w/ Headlight cleaner system:
Disconnect the 4 connectors.
c. w/ Headlight cleaner system:
Loosen the clip and disconnect the headlight cleaner hose.
d. Remove the bolt.
e. Pull the upper part of the washer jar and pump upward. Then remove it from the windshield washer jar and pump.
f. Remove the 3 bolts. Then remove the windshield washer jar and pump.
11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
12. REMOVE HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)
13. REMOVE HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)
2. INSTALL HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)
3. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY
a. Install the windshield washer jar and pump with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
b. Install the upper part of the washer jar and pump to the windshield washer jar and pump.
c. Install the upper part of the washer jar and pump with the bolt.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
d. w/ Headlight cleaner system:
Connect the headlight cleaner hose to the windshield washer jar and pump.
e. w/o Headlight cleaner system:
Connect the 2 connectors.
f. w/ Headlight cleaner system:
Connect the 4 connectors.
5. FILL WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY WITH WASHER FLUID
a. Connect the washer hose to the windshield washer motor and pump, and fill the washer jar with washer fluid.
6. INSTALL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH
7. INSTALL NO. 3 COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SUBASSEMBLY
a. Install the duct with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
8. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER
9. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER LH
a. Install the front liner with the 2 bolts and clip.
10. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH
a. Install the fender liner with the 2 clips.
11. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
12. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
14. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
