Steering Pad Switch

Steering Pad Switch:




STEERING PAD SWITCH

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
3. REMOVE NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH




a. Disconnect the connectors.
b. Remove the screw.
c. Detach the clip and 2 claws and remove the switch.




d. Disconnect the steering pad switch cable's tab from the switch, as given in the illustration.




e. Detach the 2 claws and raise the connector cover.




f. Hold the connector cover and disconnect the switch from the steering pad switch cable.

NOTE: When disconnecting the switch, do not pull the switch's wire harness.

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH RH




a. Remove the screw.
b. Detach the clip and 2 claws and remove the switch.




c. Disconnect the steering pad switch cable's tab from the switch, as given in the illustration.




d. Detach the 2 claws and raise the connector cover.




e. Hold the connector cover and disconnect the switch from the steering pad switch cable.

NOTE: When disconnecting the switch, do not pull the switch's wire harness.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH LH




a. Hold the connector cover and connect the switch to the steering pad switch cable.




b. Attach the 2 claws and close the connector cover.




c. Connect the steering pad switch cable's tab to the switch, as given in the illustration.




d. Attach the clip and 2 claws to install the switch.
e. Install the screw.
f. Connect the connectors.

2. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH RH




a. Hold the connector cover and connect the switch to the steering pad switch cable.




b. Attach the 2 claws and close the connector cover.




c. Attach the steering pad switch cable's tab to the switch, as given in the illustration.




d. Attach the clip and 2 claws to install the switch.
e. Install the screw.

3. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD
4. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
5. INSTALL NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

8. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check SRS warning light.
